  • The play was first produced by Sir Barry Jackson’s Birmingham Repertory company at the Malvern Festival in 1930, with Cedric Hardwicke and Gwen Ffrangcon-Davies.
  • It was filmed by MGM in 1934 with Norma Shearer, Fredric March and Charles Laughton.
  • The New Theatre Oxford was rebuilt shortly afterwards, its present Art Deco building opening in 1934, so this programme comes from the earlier theatre.
