London Hippodrome Theatre – Starlight Roof – 1947 Julie Andrews
An original theatre programme for Starlight Roof at the Hippodrome Theatre, London, in 1947.
This revue gave a very young Julie Andrews a bit part, her first play, alongside a cast including Vic Oliver, Fred Emney, Michael Bentine and Lucille Gaye. Andrews, still a child, stopped the show with her astonishing soprano voice.
Programmes marking the start of a great star’s career are among the most sought-after old theatre programmes, and this is a gem of 1940s theatre memorabilia.
