Ilford Town Hall – Social Club – Sweet Lavender – 1903 = 1st
A charming Edwardian theatre programme for Sweet Lavender, performed by the Ilford Social Club at the Town Hall on 14 April 1903, with Fred Rayment, Kirk Currie, Sydney Caution and Dorothy Varick.
Delightfully, it comes with a little 2″ x 2″ bag of sweet lavender. The play is Arthur Wing Pinero’s sentimental comedy, a huge hit of the late Victorian stage.
With its lavender keepsake this is a wonderfully evocative survivor, ideal for collectors of old theatre programmes and Edwardian amateur theatre.
