Peter Tearman – Logging in the forest – Gouache Painting 1947
A gouache painting, Logging in the forest (also described as “Bring in the log”), by Peter Tearman, dated 1947 and measuring 14” x 12”. It is a genuine painted picture, not a print.
Tearman (1917–1994) studied at the Slade School under William Coldstream, and this scene of physical labour reflects the social themes running through his work.
An evocative piece of immediate post-war British art, sold unframed exactly as acquired.

His work echoed the struggle and humility of social disarray and the themes that his contemporaries were exploring. He studied art at the Slade school under William Coldstream. The energy and delicacy in his work echoes time and place.
