Scarborough – Futurist Theatre – Black & White Minstrel Show 60s

An original theatre programme for the Black & White Minstrel Show at the Futurist Theatre, Scarborough, believed to date from the 1960s.

The show was one of the most popular variety entertainments of its era on stage and television, though its use of blackface is now rightly regarded as racist and offensive. It is offered here purely as a historical document.

A significant record of changing attitudes in British entertainment, of interest to collectors of old theatre programmes and social historians.
