London Sadler's Wells Theatre – Ariadne On Naxos – 1961 Opera

An original programme for Ariadne On Naxos at Sadler’s Wells Theatre, London, dated 14 February 1961, with a used entrance ticket (please see the pictures for the cast).

Richard Strauss’s witty opera, with a libretto by Hugo von Hofmannsthal, sets a tragic opera about the abandoned Ariadne alongside a troupe of comedians, with both forced to perform at once.

Sung in English as was the Sadler’s Wells tradition, this is a fine piece of opera and theatre memorabilia.
