London St James's Theatre – Anastasia – 1952
An original programme from the St James’s Theatre, London, dated 5 August 1953, for Anastasia, with Laurence Payne, Peter Illing, Anthony Ireland, Mary Kerridge, Michael Godfrey and Susan Richards.
The drama by Marcelle Maurette, adapted by Guy Bolton, follows schemers in Berlin who groom a destitute amnesiac to pose as the Grand Duchess Anastasia, sole survivor of the murdered Romanov family, only for her claim to seem eerily genuine.
From a lost West End theatre, this is an intriguing piece among old theatre programmes of the 1950s.
