London Shepherds Bush Theatre – A Street Car Named Desire – 1951
An original programme for Tennessee Williams’ A Street Car Named Desire at the Shepherds Bush Theatre, London, dated 12 March 1951. The cast included Eileen Dale, Paul Bogdan, George Cooper and Beryl Ede.
Williams’ searing drama of the fragile Blanche DuBois and her brutish brother-in-law Stanley Kowalski in New Orleans was still very new to British audiences at this time.
An early British staging of a modern classic, making this a fascinating example of old theatre programmes from the post-war years.
