Manchester Opera House – Quaker Girl – 1945

An original programme for The Quaker Girl at The Opera House, Manchester, dated 13 August 1945, in the very week the Second World War came to an end.

The cast includes Dimitri Vetter, Gwen Harris, Richard Lawrence, John Stock, Lucile Dale and Peter Yardley. Lionel Monckton’s musical comedy follows a demure young Quaker girl who becomes the toast of fashionable Paris.

Revivals of Edwardian musical comedies were popular in the 1940s, and this is a charming example of old theatre programmes from a historic moment.
