The play derives from Erckmann-Chatrian’s Le Juif polonais, the tale of an innkeeper haunted by a murder he committed years before. The cast includes Caroline Keith, Irene Barnet, Grosevnor North, Andrew Buck, Michael Raghan, Peter Coleman, Yoanna Mollard and Alfred Richards. The Gate was one of London’s most adventurous small theatres, and its early programmes are prized theatre memorabilia for collectors of old theatre programmes.
