London Royal Comedy Theatre – The Mascotte – 1882

An original programme for The Mascotte at the Royal Comedy Theatre, London, from January 1882. The cast featured Lionel Brough, Madge Milton, Lottie Venne, Emily Ash, Violet Cameron and Lytton Grey.

Edmond Audran’s comic opera La Mascotte, about a farm girl who brings good luck as long as she remains innocent, had been a triumph in Paris in 1880 and was equally popular in its English version.

A charming example of early 1880s old theatre programmes from the heyday of French opera bouffe in London.
