London Avenue Theatre – Old Guard – 1888

An original theatre programme for Old Guard at The Avenue Theatre, London, dated 24 March 1888.

This comic opera was an English version of Robert Planquette’s French operetta, and the cast includes Phyllis Broughton, Arthur Roberts, Fanny Wentworth, Alec Marsh, Clara Grahame and Henriette Polka.

A previous owner has ticked names in old pen, a nice period touch.

With the great comedian Arthur Roberts heading the bill, this is an entertaining piece of theatre memorabilia for collectors of old theatre programmes and Victorian light opera.
