Imperial Theatre – Marie Antoinette – Theatre Text Book 1880
An original theatre text booklet for Marie Antoinette, issued for a production at the Imperial Theatre in 1880.
Text books like this were sold to audiences so that they could follow the words of the play, particularly useful for historical dramas and for productions performed in, or translated from, a foreign language.
Victorian play texts sold at the theatre are much rarer than ordinary programmes, making this an unusual piece of theatre memorabilia.
