Hull Theatre Royal – The Gamblers Fate – 1828 – Playbill Poster

A rare original single sheet playbill poster and programme for The Gamblers Fate at the Theatre Royal, Hull, dated 25 February 1828. The company includes Mr Andrews, Miss Booth, Mr Parry, Mr Dearlove, Miss Glover and Miss Routh.

The melodrama traced a gambler’s ruin over many years, and English versions of the story were among the new sensations of the late 1820s stage.

Georgian playbills were the theatre programmes of their day and very few survive, making this a superb piece of early theatre memorabilia.
