Hull Theatre Royal – One Of The Best – 1897 Theatre Show Poster
An original Victorian theatre poster for One Of The Best at the Theatre Royal, Hull, dated 15 February 1897, measuring 28″ x 9″. The billing names Robert Arthurs, Stanley Pringle, Mary Raby and Adeline Lester.
One Of The Best was a stirring military melodrama by Seymour Hicks and George Edwardes, first staged in London at the Adelphi Theatre in 1895. Printed bills like this were made to be pasted up and discarded, so surviving examples are rare.
A wonderful piece of 1890s theatre memorabilia from the provincial touring circuit.
