Doncaster Theatre – Isabella – 1827 – Playbill Poster
A rare original single sided playbill poster and programme for Isabella at Doncaster Theatre, dated 24 October 1827. The company includes Mr Webster, Mr Calvert, Mr Phelps, Miss Webster, Miss Macnamara and Miss Davies.
Isabella; or, The Fatal Marriage was David Garrick’s version of Thomas Southerne’s tragedy, the tale of a woman who remarries believing her husband dead, only for him to return.
Georgian provincial playbills are scarce and fascinating survivors, and this is a fine example of early theatre memorabilia.
