Description

About this L S Lowry attributed street scene sketch

A pencil sketch of a street scene attributed to L S Lowry, on a sheet removed from a sketch book and mounted in a glazed frame. It is signed LSL and the date appears to be 1951, though partly obscured. The picture is approximately 9″ x 12″, 14″ x 18″ framed. It is a genuine drawing, not a print, but has no provenance and is offered as attributed only. Lowry’s northern street scenes are among the most recognisable images in British art, and this sketch is an intriguing piece of original artwork for collectors.

This date looks like 1951, as it is partially obscured, we have not taken out to fully check it.

We tried to get the Lowry pictures authenticated, but a dealer we took them to said they are really good, they see a lot of fakes, but they could not be 100% certain that they are genuine, so in this case they had to say no. This does not mean they are not genuine though, far from it, just one persons opinion. The Lowry Centre in Salford does not even look at peoples pictures anymore, so we gave up. You may well find that these are genuine by the artist, and good luck, but we have completed our journey on these, you may have more time that us to follow it up.

So these pictures are being sold as not genuine to be safe, it's your decision, you may well get a genuine masterpiece, or not. We have priced them extremely low, you may make thousands if they are real, or add to your collection at just a fraction of the price. Some of these items have reference numbers on the rear (could be gallery display numbers), some have NFS and some even have old prices on the rear as if offered for sale in a gallery.

Again we state it is your choice to decide, we are not selling these as genuine, no returns, sorry.

We can send this to you in the frame, or out of the frame.

We will pack really well in a stiff frame/packing, but if the glass gets broken we cannot help that!

Condition: V Good, vlcr, gold frame is good (what the codes mean)
