Peter Tearman – Lovers – Acrylic on Paper Painting

Lovers is an original acrylic on paper by Peter Tearman (1917-1994), a large work measuring 20 x 18 inches. It is a genuine painted picture, not a print.

Tearman studied at the Slade School of Fine Art under William Coldstream, and his figure paintings echo the struggle and humility of the social themes explored by his contemporaries.

Alongside our theatre memorabilia we offer original paintings by British artists, giving collectors the chance to own expressive, hand-painted works from the 20th century.

Again we state it is your choice to decide if this is genuine, we are not selling these as genuine, but the may well be, no returns, sorry.

Did you know?

• Acrylic paints only became commercially available to artists in the 1950s, decades into Tearman’s career.
• Tearman’s tutor William Coldstream co-founded the Euston Road School in 1937.
