London Adelphi Theatre – Merry Go Round – 1944
An original theatre programme for Merry Go Round at the Adelphi Theatre, London, in 1944. The cast includes Zoya Valevska, Patrick Hoey, Kyra Vayne, Nina Tarakanova, Pat Leonard and Ivor Ingham.
Staged during the final years of the Second World War, productions like this offered Londoners music, colour and escapism amid the blackout and the flying bomb raids.
Wartime programmes printed on austerity paper are increasingly scarce, making this an interesting item among old theatre programmes.

- The present Adelphi Theatre building, with its Art Deco interior, dates from a 1930 rebuild.
- Wartime paper rationing meant programmes of 1940s productions were often thinner than their pre-war counterparts.
