London St Jame's Theatre – As You Like It – 1896
An original Victorian theatre programme for Shakespeare’s As You Like It at the St James Theatre, London, dated 16 December 1896.
The cast included James Fernandez, Aubrey Smith, Vincent Sternroyd, Henry Loraine, Fay Davies and Arthur Royston.
Shakespeare’s pastoral comedy follows Rosalind and Orlando into the Forest of Arden, and gives us Jaques’ famous ‘All the world’s a stage’ speech.
A handsome late Victorian Shakespeare programme and a fine example of old theatre programmes from a lost West End theatre.
