London Aldwych Theatre – And No Birds Sing – 1947
An original theatre programme for And No Birds Sing at the Aldwych Theatre, London, from 1947. The cast includes Kenneth More, Elizabeth Allan, Helen Haye, Natalie Jordan, Russell Waters and James Harcourt.
The title echoes a line from Keats’s ballad La Belle Dame sans Merci: “The sedge has withered from the lake, and no birds sing.” Spotting Kenneth More shortly before his rise to film stardom makes this an appealing piece of theatre memorabilia and a good example of old theatre programmes.
