Liverpool Everyman Theatre – The Silver Box – 1928
An original theatre programme for The Silver Box at the Everyman Theatre, Liverpool, dated 26 November 1928. The cast includes Martin Walker, Malcolm Morley, Ena Burrill, Una O’Connor, Charles Lander and Horatio Moody.
John Galsworthy’s drama contrasts two thefts: one by a wealthy MP’s son and one by a poor unemployed man. It exposes how differently the law treats rich and poor.
A good 1920s example of old theatre programmes for a socially pointed English classic.
