Birmingham Prince Of Wales Theatre – Rank & Fame – 1875
An original Victorian programme for Rank & Fame at the Prince Of Wales Theatre, Birmingham, dated 28 June 1875. The cast includes George Hamilton, Miss Page, Mr F Stainforth, Mr J Cooper, Laura Farren and Mrs Hird.
It was removed from a bound volume of theatre programmes, which helped preserve it so well. Programmes from the 1870s are genuinely scarce, and this is a wonderful survivor for collectors of Birmingham theatre and old theatre programmes.

Did you know?
- Birmingham’s Prince of Wales Theatre stood on Broad Street and was destroyed by German bombing in 1941.
- In the 1870s theatres changed their bills frequently, so a programme like this captures a single short engagement.
- Bound volumes of programmes were often kept by theatre managements or keen local playgoers, and are a key source for theatre historians today.
