London Theatre Royal – Hearts Are Trumps – 1899
An original theatre programme for Hearts Are Trumps at the Theatre Royal, London, from October 1899, a large four page programme.
The cast includes Violet Vanbrugh, Dora Barton, William Devereux, Charles Angelo, Howard Russell and Cooper Cliffe. This was a spectacular society melodrama by Cecil Raleigh, typical of the lavish autumn dramas of the late Victorian stage.
Programmes from the 1890s are increasingly scarce, and this large format example is a fine addition for collectors of old theatre programmes.
