Cambridge Arts Theatre – Chaplin Fields Lye Rotha – 1943

An original Film Society programme from The Cambridge Arts Theatre, dated 30 May 1943, for an evening titled Chaplin, Fields, Lye and Rotha.

The bill features Charlie Chaplin in The Champion, W C Fields in The Dentist, Len Lye’s Trade Tattoo and Paul Rotha’s World Of Plenty, a fascinating mix of silent comedy, sound comedy, experimental animation and wartime documentary.

Film society programmes are scarce survivors, and this one is a lovely piece of cinema and theatre memorabilia from wartime Cambridge.
