Hull Theatre Royal – Shadow Of The Sword – Coleman – late 1800's

An original theatre programme for Shadow Of The Sword at the Theatre Royal, Hull, believed to date from the late 1800s. The cast includes Harry Dundas, George Chaplin, Helen May and John Coleman.

The play was Robert Buchanan’s drama adapted from his own novel, a story of a Breton who refuses to fight in Napoleon’s wars.

A fine provincial Victorian bill and an appealing example of old theatre programmes from the north of England.
