London Mermaid Theatre – Tragedie Of Macbeth – 1940s
An early theatre programme for The Tragedie Of Macbeth at the Mermaid Theatre, London. The cast included John Dunbar, Clifford Williams, Barry Foster, Patricia Lowi, Arnold Yarrow and Barbara Clegg.
The old-style spelling of the title reflects the Mermaid’s early interest in staging plays in the manner of Shakespeare’s own time.
Programmes from the Mermaid’s pioneering early years are scarce and make a fascinating addition to any collection of old theatre programmes.
