Keighley Hippodrome Theatre – Watch On The Rhine – 1944
An original theatre programme for Watch On The Rhine at the Hippodrome Theatre, Keighley, dated June 1944, with Gertrude Ayton, Sheila Bain, Wilfred Stephens, Constance Parsons, George Ricarde and Eileen Herlie.
Lillian Hellman’s anti-fascist drama follows a German resistance fighter sheltering with his wife’s family in America. Staged as the war in Europe reached its climax, this is a poignant example of wartime old theatre programmes.
